What’s Capoeira?
It is now recognised by UNESCO as a world treasure and part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – and for good reason.
Capoeira is not just something you do. It’s something you become part of.
The Roda:
A Circle of Connection
At the heart of Capoeira is the Roda — a circle of people where two players exchange movement, music fills the air, and the energy is alive. It’s where tradition meets improvisation, and where each player learns not just to kick or dodge, but to read, feel, and respond.
You don’t fight to win.
You play to connect.
The Rhythm:
Music That Guide the Game
The rhythm of Capoeira is mainly driven by the berimbau, pandeiro, and atabaque — traditional instruments that tell the story of the game being played. The songs are sung in Portuguese and passed down through generations. They teach lessons, carry history, and shape the energy of each encounter.
You don’t just move to the music — you move with it.
The Invitation:
A Movement for Everyone
New to movement? You’ll discover strength you didn’t know you had.
Already active? Capoeira will challenge your co-ordination, flow, and creativity in new ways.
More into music than martial arts? Capoeira brings both together like nothing else.
Looking for community? You’ll find one here — welcoming, inclusive, and global.
Capoeira adapts to you. And in return, it brings out the best of who you are.

At Capoeira 4 Scotland, we’ve seen the power of this practice firsthand — from kids building confidence through play, to adults finding strength and support after years of disconnection.
You don’t need to be fit, flexible, or fearless to start.
You just need to be open.
Curious? Inspired? You’re not here by accident.
The best way to understand Capoeira…
is to experience it.
